Siobhán Griffin
Committee Member

Originally from Ballybunion, Co. Kerry and now based in Kildare, Siobhán Griffin has over 15 years of experience in the racing industry, with hands-on work in racing yards across Ireland, the UK, and the USA. A graduate of Equine Science from the University of Limerick and a Chartered Accountant, Siobhán combines her practical industry knowledge with strong expertise in finance, governance, and equine welfare.

She currently works in the Equine Welfare department at Horse Racing Ireland (HRI), where she plays a pivotal role in stakeholder engagement and the development of industry-wide welfare initiatives. These include the advancement of traceability systems for Irish racehorses, the verification of high welfare standards through the BTO League, and educational programmes built around HRI’s Principles of Animal Welfare—a framework she helped develop in collaboration with a wide range of industry participants.

Siobhán also led the coordination of HRI’s first ever Equine Welfare Symposium and has been central to the growth of Treo Eile, especially its annual Christmas Show, where she has driven sponsorship and community engagement. She is also director of the Irish Stable Staff Association and is currently completing a postgraduate qualification in International Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law.

In her spare time, Siobhán enjoys going racing, playing football, and hacking her retired racehorse, Coppers.
