Sharon Monahan

Sharon has loved horses since childhood and competed in showjumping competitions on ponies and horses. She is from Co. Louth but is currently living in Belfast where she studied law at Queen’s University Belfast. Sharon has been a successful solicitor for over 22 years, in a career spanning private practice, company law, insolvency law, public inquiry law and has worked as the chief executive of a charity. She is a master of human rights’ law and dual-qualified to practice in Ireland and the UK.

In respect of tertiary level teaching; Sharon is a registered law lecturer with The Teaching Council of Ireland, and enjoys working with her broad range of fantastic students at Dundalk Institute of Technology and Queen’s University Belfast.

Sharon is a graduate of Equine Science from University College Dublin and is very passionate about the thoroughbred industry. She has achieved racing success on racetracks in Ireland, America and at Cheltenham.
