WINR’s Tour Talk & Turf Delivers a Memorable Experience

Over 35 women travelled to Waterford on Friday 15 August for our much‑anticipated Tour, Talk & Turf event. The group, aged from 13 to 60, came together through a shared passion for horse racing, friendship and professional networking.

The day began with a warm welcome at Henry de Bromhead’s renowned training yard. Racing Secretary Tom Connolly led an informative behind‑the‑scenes tour of one of Ireland’s leading racing operations. Highlights included meeting Henry on arrival, seeing Honeysuckle’s former stable and watching the yard’s horses gallop past on a glorious sunny morning. The team’s generous hospitality made the visit especially memorable.

We then moved to the magnificent Mount Congreve Gardens for a delicious two‑course lunch, lively conversation and excellent networking. Some attendees enjoyed a leisurely walk through the world‑class gardens while others explored the thoughtfully curated gift shop. The fine weather tempted several members to take an impromptu sea swim at Guillamene Swimming Cove — a fun reminder that our events are as much about connection and wellbeing as they are about racing.

The day concluded at Tramore Racecourse, where the sunny afternoon provided the perfect backdrop for racing excitement. Guests enjoyed a thrilling race day atmosphere, BBQ food and live entertainment — a fitting finale to an unforgettable outing.

Nessa Joyce, Chairperson of Women in Racing Ireland, said: “Events like Tour, Talk & Turf bring together women at every stage of their racing journey — from young enthusiasts to established professionals. Seeing so many connect, learn and support one another in such a beautiful setting was inspiring. We left Waterford with new friendships, fresh ideas and renewed enthusiasm for the sport we love.”
